DigiTown collaborates with local and foreign organizations to develop and foster the IT startup ecosystem in Armenia with one overarching goal in mind: to provide resources for Armenian talent to implement ideas and dive deep into tech entrepreneurship. We will achieve this by creating a brilliant physical and intellectual environment conducive to innovating, starting a business, or expanding an existing one.
Everything starts with an idea, an innovative thought that evolves into something to improve the lives of others or possibly change the world for the better. Thus, we do believe in the power of an idea, in Armenian – mitq [mitk].
is a startup acceleration program that aims to empower the Armenian startup ecosystem by crowdsourcing innovative technological solutions. The program is designed to bring together entrepreneurs, startup founders, mentors and investors under one roof to network, generate and work on the ideas that will eventually become great initiatives and businesses.
In recent years, the Armenian IT industry has experienced rapid growth with a domestic market worth around $500 million and become one of the most dynamic and internationally competitive sectors of the Armenian economy. This boosted a country’s startup ecosystem and innovation as well. As a result, dozens of local startups enter the international market while key global players open their branches or R&D centers in Armenia. Being considered the Silicon Valley of the Soviet Union (more than 30% of Soviet military computers were produced in Armenia) now there are around 2000 ICT companies registered in a country that increase the industry income by an estimated 20% each year.
